Why Not?

Those therapists that minimize the value of a patient's loneliness, frequently argue that loneliness is subjective. So? They forget that the concepts of depression and anxiety are also subjective in nature, yet they are both very useful concepts. Loneliness has an advantage in that it is universally experienced and the concept is easily understood and manipulated. My patients have told me that learning to understand, and work with, their loneliness has been a major mile stone in treatment, and has usually resulted in major progress in treatment. However, an individual does not have to be a patient to benefit from the concept. It is my hope that this website will be clinically useful to those that take the time to read and study it.
